handyCalc 0.41

Upgrade two important components: unit converter & currency converter. Both support more data (600+ common units & 140+ currency) and implemented a powerful search function. I also release the standalone version for them (if you like, search “handyConverter” and “handyCurrency” in Market).

I have recently got my android phone and I was searching for a programm to plot equations, to solve equations, to convert units etc… This programm does all this and more… It’s a realy great programm. Many thanks to the developer…

  2. James says:

I love this program. I would really really like the ability to copy a calculation result to the clipboard, so I could paste the result into the unit conversion module.

As it is, I have to memorize the result from the calculator and enter that into the unit converter. I know how to copy/paste in the equation area, but I can’t copy the answer to the clipboard.

Please add this feature to a future update.

All I have to say is thank you for this wonderful app.

  4. deborah says:

I like the app for most things but the unit conversions need work. The sun is not 5.e-34 g and the bytes to mb and gb conversions shouldn’t have round off errors (if that is what’s going on).
    Otherwise, kudos.

  5. Joel Johnson says:

The on screen keyboard should let you type in superscript for exponents without having to go to the physical keyboard.

The unit converter won’t work if I try to convert a decimal number. putting in 2in will bring up the option to convert, but if I put 2.1in, it won’t recognize it as being inches.

This is the most versatile calculator for android so far, iron out the bugs so it’s even better!

  6. John says:

    Can handyCalc do matrices?? Thanks!!

  7. Marc says:

hi! great app! any chance that vietnamese dong VND is going to be added to your currencies? thanx!

  8. Bernd says:

    Great app!
But can´t find a option to delete the save history.
Also . in unit conversion doesn´t work.

    Keep on with that. Thanks.

  9. Kevin says:

This is such a racehorse of a calculator that I hesitate to ask about my mundane problem, but…I want to multiply a series of numbers by a constant and record each result. How can I do that with handyCalc? Thanks!

  10. Simba says:

Can’t find it through Market. Is there a way to download latest .apk directly?

  11. jaap says:

Could you please publish Handycalc on slideme.org. The android market is not accessible in most parts of the work 😦 (e.g. my place: Vietnam)

    Thank you!

  12. netrefugee says:

my.cell phone is htc hero, so it doesnt have keyboard. how could i input the variable?

  13. Lifedeathsoul says:

Hi! I love the sound of this app, but I can’t seem to find it in the android market 😦 is it possible to download it anywhere else?

  14. Psyduck says:

HandyCalc is best calculator software in Android. Because, not only a Calculation but also Graphing and Solving the equation is available. If Conic curve, Polar coordinate and Parametric equation is supported in next version, HandyCalc will be a best software for all students and teachers.

  15. Hi,

Excellent application, really the best calculator for Android, no doubt.

I couldn’t find your contact on this page and I have a few comments to make:

    1) Although the blue menu icons you opted to use are not that ugly compared to some apps I’ve seen, my suggestion is to use the same icon style as most apps (and Android itself) use. To make it consistent with the system and every other app.

    2) You’ll probably ignore this one, but why naming it handyCalc and not HandyCalc? It looks weird in the menus along with all the other apps and it’s also unprofessional with handyCalc. Just my opinion, just a suggestion, it’s your choice 🙂

    3) Sticking both the unit and currency conversion tools, creates different names on the desktop. One is called “handyConverter” and the other one “CurrencyConverter”. Options: a) change from “handyConverter” to “Unit Converter” or “UnitConverter” (I prefer the first one, if you opt for the first one, also adapt to “Currency Converter”), b) change “CurrencyConverter” to “handyCurrency” as that’s the name of the app.

That’s basically it, keep up the good work 🙂

  16. wazer says:

Where do i download this file????? ITs no where. i found one but that didnt work for htc tattoo????

  17. Robt says:

Great apps! Can you add Vietnam currency converter?

  18. john says:

    Thanks for great app.

I need a inverse convert function(?) for unit converter.

    i.e.
    default converter:
    m/s 1
    mph 2.237
    c 3.3356e-9

    inverse converter:
    mph 0.447 m/s
    c 299792458 m/s

  19. Josh says:

How do you do a cube root or an nth root? I can’t figure it out.

    • Leon Whitaker says:

I don’t think you can I think you just have to take whatever the variable is to the 1/3 power or 1/9 power. It should get you the same answer.

  20. meshraj says:

i liked this app, but i couldn’t use my keyboard on mytouch(i installed hero on it but don’t think that may be the problem)

  21. erinata says:

This app is great!!I have some suggestions to you…

    1. Can I use “!” to do factorial?

    2. It would be good if I can type sum(1,2,3,4,5) instead of 1+2+3+4+5. Especially if you can implement some other functions (like, product, median, mode, ……etc).

    3. where are the drafts (and the tutorial) saved? Is it in a particular txt file format that I can type the whole script in the txt file and load into handycalc?

    4. following from point 3, in this way we can enter our custom functions into a txt file and have it loaded every time handycalc is loaded?

  22. Hongdong Qin says:

    OMG, it’s simply mighty!

  23. desti says:

Thanks for your effort to make this amazing claculator. I’m very interested in unit converting functionality and more, as a nuclear engieer. If you need some help, please let me help you.

  24. joel says:

    Hi,

I’ve recently get my android phone, and was hoping I could to try this calc but unfortunately it doesn’t show-up in the market when I search for it.

I think it’s because of the screen resolution that’s not supported by the app.

I have a HTC Tattoo with a screen 240×320 QVGA.

can you please make a update to support this screen,

    Thanks

    • Zennehoy says:

I also couldn’t find the calculator in the market (for HTC Kaiser), only the standalone currency and unit converters.

Downloading the .apk and installing it directly works great though, so QVGA screen resolution isn’t a problem.

  25. jerome says:

    Hello
Can i see the last appli ?
    Thanks

  26. berto says:

great app. i wish i had this in college when i was taking trig and calculus.

  27. Nikolai Sharp says:

I Absolutely love it, just can’t find a way of inputting text as I have no hard keyboard. It would be amazing if you added one.
Thank you very much for this app.

  28. OppfinnarJocke says:

    Great app.
Just one nitpick, have you tried to input the hex number “FF12” to convert it to decimal? handyCalc assumes that the “12” is an index for the preceding “F”. This does not happen for “FE12”, etc. Is there a setting for this somewhere?

  29. john says:

When creating multiple pages, it would be nice to have an easy way to delete pages I no longer need.

    • Chris says:

Has anyone figured out how to clean pages on this handycalc? I mean shouldn’t this be an obvious thing to make clear to the users!!!

Let me know if anyone helped you out coz i too can’t figure out how to delete pages.

Also, anytime you press the back button (htc desire), it closes the app!

  30. Rane says:

HandyCalc has great functionality! I like that the Unit Convertor and Currency are built in.
It would be “Handier” if the Keyboard selector (123,ABC) and the Mode selector (Calc-Currency-Units-Date) were easy-access Buttons at the top, like where the ‘>’ keys are. This UI change would really polish the app and make it very fast and Easy to use. Thanks, keep up the good work.
Also, the date calculator is useful & looked great, but I couldn’t get it to work (help plz.)

    Thx 🙂 Great work.

(Sorry if this is a duplicate, I’m getting accustomed to my new phone..)

  31. Alex says:

Hi, Love the app running on HTC Magic. Works perfectly. However, is it possible to add Combinations, Permutations and factorials to the calculator?

  33. Hank Hudgins says:

I may just not be seeing these on your website for Handy-Calc; but I am looking for an android calculator
that does all I do see plus(at least):
    1. 2-variable statistics and correlations
    2. fitting of at least simple functions to data; y = a+bx, a+ bx+cx^2, ax^b, a*(e)^bx, etc.
3.deg-min-sec to and from decimal degrees.
    4. polar to and from rectangular coordinates.

I have handheld pocket-size calculators from the 80s that do this. Thanks for listening.

    Hank

  34. savoin says:

    thank you

  35. foogoo fish says:

I really miss the factorial option, and the modus mode etc. from this. hope you will add them in near future.
BTW, the best calc for the little green miracle 🙂

  36. Dusan says:

Great application! But why don’t you have Serbian currency, dinar (RSD:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serbian_dinar)? You have all the currencies of the neighbouring countries, I’d really like this feature added in next version.

  37. Anonymous says:

can’t use can’t use keyboard feature on EVO. there is no hard keyboard to use. otherwise absolutely great

  38. Ferran says:

    This calculator is awesome.

I only miss something. It’s a bit difficult to define variables and functions because the letters, equal sign and brackets are in different places. So typing “f(x,y)=x^y” takes a long time.

I know it is difficult to put so many keys in a small screen but maybe you can find a better layout. You may (it’s an idea) put the characters “=()” in the letter keyboard, since they are likely to be typed together with letters. This way, typing “f(x,y)=” would be much faster.

Thank you very much for this incredible program.
